
The National Speed Skating Oval, also known as the "Ice Ribbon", is the only newly-built ice competition venue for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. It is a landmark building complex that, together with the "Bird's Nest" and "Water Cube", forms the "Double Olympics" city. The Ice Ribbon "is the first speed venue in the history of the Winter Olympics to use carbon dioxide as a refrigerant. It will host speed skating events and produce 14 gold medals, making it the single venue with the highest number of gold medals produced in the Winter Olympics.
