In December 2019, the 93rd Spengler Cup was held in Davos, Switzerland. The ice surface for this tournament was prepared using the ENGO electric ice-making equipment to ensure excellent ice conditions. The Spengler Cup, first held in 1923, is renowned as the world's oldest ice hockey invitational tournament. This event is hosted by the Swiss team Davos (generally the best Swiss players) and is held annually from December 26th to 31st in Davos, Switzerland. Traditionally, the Swiss team Davos and the Canadian national ice hockey team participate in the Spengler Cup, while other teams are invited by the organizers.
 
The tournament is named after Carl Spengler, a doctor who dedicated his life to fighting tuberculosis. He was one of the founders of the first tournament held in 1923. The main purpose of this tournament is to unite countries that became adversaries during the First World War. The first team to win the trophy was from Oxford University (United Kingdom), consisting of Canadians studying at Oxford.
 
In December 2019, the 93rd edition of the Spengler Cup was held in Davos, Switzerland. The Canadian team defeated the American team 4-0 in the final, winning the championship for the 16th time and remaining the sole record holder of the Spengler Cup to date.
